Hey all! Hope your week is going well! Our house is extremely busy here since executing our homeschool schedule last week, but I’m happy with how it’s going. Being organized with a schedule helps tremendously!
Anyhoo, I wanted to quickly share with you a great 15-minute experience I had with a successful writer/blogger who gave several of us blogger newbies a generous offer…her time! Her name is Eden Fried. Ever heard of her? Here is her bio for more info.
I had noticed a lot of her posts through the Blogger Insights Community Group on Facebook. I am eager to learn from others so when she posted an offer for a free 15-minute session via Skype, I snatched it up!
I started working on my blog this summer simply to beef up my tech and writing skill sets. However, I’ve had so many incredible opportunities and I wanted to continue pursuing blogging as a hobby. Building websites and writing blog posts has allowed me to meet highly motivated bloggers online, write guest blog posts, review products, learn about the blogosphere and the multitude of apps to use. It’s a chance of a lifetime and I’m in it for the long haul.
After scheduling my session with Eden, I had no idea what to expect but was excited for this rare opportunity. At my session, she showed up on time, thoroughly went through all of my questions, and even sent me a synopsis of our chat afterwards! I would have loved to have spent more time with her, but I’m extremely satisfied with the outcome.
Here is a short summary of her advice for my requested topics (SEO and email marketing) and hoping it will benefit you as well!
Growing an Email List
Step 1: Create a freebie
Step 2: Create a landing page for that freebie
Step 3: Advertise your freebie (forms and landing pages) all over your site
Step 4: Advertise your freebie all over the WEB (with your landing page) **AND** Create
relevant blog posts (that relate to your freebie) – put your freebie form on that blog, promote
your blog posts like crazy
Creating a Sales Funnel
It’s a three step process. #1 blog posts > #2 Freebie (mailing list) > #3 send emails to get people to buy your product
How to find keywords:
- Think of questions that your audience has.
- What will they go to google and type out to find their answer? Those are your keywords.
- You can also use Pinterest to help (I never thought to use Pinterest for keywords!).
Add your keywords in a number of different places:
- The title of your blog post
- A header in your blog post
- In your first sentence or paragraph of your blog post
- At least 2-3 other times throughout your blog
- Add image alt-tags
- Add bin your meta description
The most important tip I received from her was specific keywords that I originally didn’t think were important based on the small number of searches my research uncovered. During our discussion, she informed me that the keywords I mentioned were something I should pursue. This inspired me enough to snag another domain name and start building another website!
If you have the opportunity to gain advice from a successful blogger, I certainly recommend it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Until next time!
